I am James Gibson.

I have been working with adults and young people for 20 years, as a teacher, mentor, coach and therapist.

I spent most of my twenties travelling and living in traditional cultures, where I first came across the wisdom traditions that were to have a huge influence on my life and my work. I still practise and use many of them today.

I help people to know who they really are, and what it means to be human. I am still exploring both these things myself. I understand it to be more a matter of remembering that learning. It takes time, and anyone can do it.

I have lived a colourful and rich life. I have never been one to settle down and conform to convention. Taking the road less travelled has given me a unique understanding of the human condition, and as much as any qualification or training I have undertaken, has prepared me to work as deeply and effectively as I do.

My approach is based upon a combination of various Therapeutic and Coaching modalities (see below), these life experiences and the wisdom traditions and practices I have studied and practised for almost thirty years.

Therapeutic Coaching Method

My method is drawn from trainings and qualifications in the following:

Embodiment practices and methodology to bring about increased self-awareness and tools to facilitate meaningful, long-term change.

Shadow Work facilitation (based on Jungian archetypes) to explore and integrate aspects of the self which are hidden from view.

Somatic exercises and interventions (mainly based on Peter Levine’s work and Polyvagal Theory) to work with patterning and trauma in the body.

Life Coaching (ILM Certified) to uphold commitment and accountability to the work.

Orphan Wisdom Scholar (Stephen Jenkinson’s in-house program for cultural activism and regeneration).
